This course explores various aspects of contemporary Japanese philosophy (Post-World War II Japanese philosophy) by reading Japanese primary sources in English translation, and discussing them in English.
Participants will read and discuss papers by:
Yuasa Yasuo, Ueda Shizuteru, Omori Shozo, Nakamura Yujiro, Kimura Bin, and Sakabe Megumi.
By the end of the term students will gain some basic understanding of contemporary philosophy in Japan.

Active participation in discussion 20%
Term paper 60%
